Database searching - CINAHL (intermediate) Online
Overview:
This course is designed to familiarise participants with CINAHL database. It aims to equip you with the essential skills needed to effectively search for evidence to support your research project, focusing specifically on utilising keywords to devise a robust search strategy.
Target audience:
All Barts Health NHS Trust staff, including those interested in conducting evidence searches for a wide range of projects, including but not limited to patients’ cases, audits, services change, guideline and policy development, systematic reviews, and other research initiatives.
If you are new to searching or just want a quick search with basic filtering options, you might want to attend the beginner course first.
Requirements:
Participants are required
- to have an OpenAthens account.

Learning objectives:
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- identify the right database for your search topic
- formulate a well-structured search question and identify its key concepts
- use the keyword technique including truncation symbol, Boolean operators, and exact phrase searching
- edit a search strategy
- apply search limits
- save both the search strategy and results for future reference
- view full text and request items
